Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson discussed rumors that they are biological brothers in their new comedy series «Brothers». In an interview with «Extra», - the actors shared that they decided to create «fantasy versions» of themselves.
Woody noted that they initially wanted to make a show that closely resembled their lives, but later realized it would be much more interesting to add elements of fiction. Matthew added that the «exaggerated versions» of the characters created a dynamic that led to «real conflict» and, as a result, to comedy.
Although there were no «taboo topics» in the show, Matthew mentioned that some moments that could have been «more R-rated» were excluded. Woody jokingly remarked that they completely removed the «love storyline» between them. Matthew smiled and confirmed that it was in the first episode.
Woody also admitted that playing parody versions of themselves turned out to be «much harder than he thought», - adding that it took him time to understand what he was doing. He noted that watching the first episodes made him realize that his performance was «terrible».
