His father is Cuba Gooding Jr., who won an Oscar in 1997 for «Best Supporting Actor» in the film «Jerry Maguire». Cuba has had a long and successful career in film and television, recently playing the role of O.J. Simpson in the 2016 series «American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson». Mason’s mother is Sara Kapfer, Cuba’s ex-wife, with whom they were married for 22 years before divorcing in 2017.
Growing up in Los Angeles with a busy Hollywood star as his father, Mason attended Windward High School in Mar Vista, California, and then went on to study at Tisch School of the Arts at NYU. Eventually, he left college to fully dedicate himself to an acting career.
In 2018, he appeared in three episodes of the HBO series «Ballers» with Dwayne «The Rock» Johnson. He played Nick in the highly acclaimed 2019 film «Booksmart» directed by Olivia Wilde. He also starred in the comedy series «Everything's Gonna Be Okay» on Hulu in 2020 and plays Andrew in the series «Love, Victor» on Hulu.
Thanks to shirtless photos he posts on Instagram, followers can see his toned abs and sculpted torso.
Although his character in the series «Love, Victor» is straight, Mason announced when the show premiered in June 2020 that he would be donating to charities close to the heart of the show. In an Instagram post, he wrote: «Every time I post something about the show, I will be donating and showcasing some incredible charities/movements supporting the LGBTQ+ and black communities, whose efforts have allowed me and people like me to have a platform today thanks to their tireless fight for justice and equality in the social and political landscape. That being said, you are all loved, you are all seen, and I hope above all, you understand that your thoughts and ideas matter greatly, so please continue to share them with the world»
