The show «That '90s Show» has been renewed for a second season, but Mila Kunis and her husband, Ashton Kutcher, will not be returning. Mila, 40, explained in a new interview the reason why she and Ashton, 46, decided not to reprise their iconic roles of Jackie Burkhart and Michael Kelso, respectively.

«I mean, we did our thing, and they introduced our son on the show, and that was, you know, [enough]», - Mila told Entertainment Tonight at PaleyFest in an interview published on Monday, April 22.

The first season of the Netflix series premiered in January 2023 and features a new group of teenagers. The show is a spin-off of «That '70s Show» and focuses on the children of the original cast. Mila and Ashton’s characters appeared briefly in one episode after their son, Jay Kelso, was introduced.

In September 2023, Mila and Ashton’s former co-star from «That '70s Show», - Danny Masterson, was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison for two counts of rape. At that time, Mila and Ashton faced extensive criticism after it was revealed that they had written letters to the judge in support of Danny, 48.

In her letter, Mila described Danny’s «caring nature and ability to provide guidance» and noted that he «was instrumental to [her] personal and professional growth».

«I wholeheartedly vouch for the exceptional character of Danny Masterson and the tremendous positive influence he has had on me and those around him», - Mila added in her letter.

After the public learned about the supportive letters from Mila and Ashton, the couple addressed the scandal in a apologetic video on Instagram.

«We understand the pain caused by the letters in support of Danny Masterson», - Ashton began in the video, and then added that the letters «were intended to be read by the judge and not to undermine the testimony of victims or re-traumatize them. We never intended that. And we are sorry that it happened».

Mila also noted, «We support victims. We have historically done this through our work and will continue to do so in the future. The letters were not written to question the legality of the judicial system or the jury’s decision… Our hearts ache for anyone who has ever been a victim of sexual violence, sexual assault, or rape».

If you or someone you know has been a victim of sexual violence, please call the National Sexual Assault Hotline at 1−800−656-HOPE (4673). A trained staff member will provide confidential, impartial support, as well as local resources to help with healing, recovery, and more
