Miranda Derrick shared about the cult accusations in the Netflix documentary series «Dancing for the Devil: Cult 7M on TikTok», - released on May 29. «My parents and sister are not religious. They immediately called my going to church twice a week a 'cult'», - the 27-year-old girl shared.

The series tells the story of TikTok dancers who were part of the management company 7M, under the leadership of Robert Shinn, who is a pastor of the church and founder of the Shekinah church. Miranda joined the 7M House in 2021, but just a few months after joining the clan, her family began to notice a change in her behavior. When her family approached her for not being able to help at their grandfather’s funeral, they realized something was wrong.

«I love my mom, dad, and Melanie, and they will always be a part of my life… The truth is that we just don’t see eye to eye at the moment. I gave my life to Jesus Christ in 2020 and asked my family for some space right at the beginning to gather my thoughts and process my new path that I wanted to walk with God», - Miranda wrote in her Instagram Stories after the premiere of the documentary series.

She added, «No one likes to be portrayed as zombified/not in control of their life/a shell of themselves/a sold daughter/sister when it’s just not true».

Although she may not be in the best relationship with her family, she still tries to mend relationships and reunite with them. The TikToker posted a photo of herself in a long black dress at her sister’s wedding on May 27 on Instagram.

«I have been meeting with them over the past couple of years to mend relationships, move forward, and resolve issues as a family. This documentary has created an additional obstacle between us as I work to overcome this public attack», - Miranda added in her recent statement on Instagram Stories.

Former members of 7M, who are currently in a civil lawsuit against Robert, claimed that the head of 7M encouraged them to distance themselves from their families. One dancer even recalled how Miranda was «zombified» after claiming that Miranda once told her she missed her family, but the pastor said it wouldn’t be a good idea.

Rolling Stone magazine reported: «Shekinah is a cult operating under the guise of a religious institution», - although the founder of the Shekinah church denies the accusations in court documents, according to NBC News
