Miranda Lambert clarified the situation regarding her alleged fight with Chad Kroeger over ten years ago. In an episode of The New York Times podcast «Popcast», - which aired on October 1, the singer recounted the incident that took place in 2010.
When asked by podcast host Joe Coscarelli whether it was true that she hit Kroeger in the face, Lambert admitted that she actually threw her drink at him. «I threw a shot in his face», - she confirmed. The singer added that after that, Kroeger’s hair was «in complete disarray».
Lambert explained that the incident occurred in the midst of a party, and no one was in the best state. When asked if her actions were «playful and mischievous», - she hinted that the situation was more serious than just a joke. «I don’t know if we’re okay now—but I don’t care», - she noted.
The story of the conflict between Lambert and Kroeger began in 2010 when they encountered each other at a bar during Lambert’s 27th birthday celebration in Nashville. According to witnesses, Kroeger insisted that Lambert drink with him, but she refused. In response, he allegedly said that she «didn't need to be a bitch», - which provoked her to throw her drink in his direction. Kroeger has never publicly commented on this incident.
Four years later, Lambert’s then-husband, Blake Shelton, mentioned the incident in an interview with Rolling Stone. «People are always trying to provoke her into a fight in bars», - he said, adding that it involved a «leader of a very popular rock band».
Lambert and Shelton got engaged in 2010 and married the following year, but they divorced in July 2015. Lambert later married Brendan McLoughlin in January 2019, while Shelton married Gwen Stefani in July 2021.
