After two years, Jeffrey Williams, known as Young Thug, successfully fought for his release from prison. After nearly a year-long legal process, the rapper pleaded guilty to several charges related to gang involvement, drugs, and weapons. As part of the agreement, Young Thug must stay out of the Atlanta metro area for the first 10 years of his probation, except for special circumstances and family emergencies. The judge sentenced him to 40 years, with the first five years being replaced by time served in prison, according to the Associated Press. This will be followed by 15 years of probation. If the rapper successfully completes his probation, another 20 years will be replaced by time served in prison, AP reports.

«I take responsibility for my crimes, for my charges», - he said in court in October 2024, according to Newsweek. «I want to apologize to my family, my mom, my mom has 11 children, I can’t name all their names, my managers, my children… I have learned from my mistakes, you know. I came from nothing, and I did something, and I didn’t fully take advantage of it. I apologize».

Young Thug was arrested and imprisoned due to his association with the YSL (Young Slime Life) group. Members of the group allegedly violated several laws, including murder and drug trafficking. Thug was accused of leading the gang.

The rapper was arrested in May 2022. He was denied bail several times during his detention.

Since May 2022, Young Thug has been behind bars. Initially, he was held in Fulton County Jail, then transferred to Cobb County Jail, where he remained during his trial in 2023−2024, according to various sources.

As of October 31, 2024, Young Thug was released from prison after pleading guilty to one gang-related charge, three drug charges, and two weapons charges, and reaching a plea deal for not guilty to another gang-related charge and an organized crime charge, according to various sources.

Additionally, the artist «Want Me Dead» agreed to avoid the Atlanta metro area for the first decade of his probation, except for special circumstances and/or family emergencies, according to AP. However, the judge also ordered Young Thug to return to Atlanta several times a year to give presentations against guns and gangs in schools or similar educational institutions
