Monica Lewinsky never expected the global fury she experienced when her affair with former President Bill Clinton became known in the 1990s. When she met Clinton, Lewinsky had just finished college and was working as an intern at the White House. Lewinsky also launched her podcast «Reclaiming» in early 2025 and discussed how she «lost [her] anonymity… [her] future… [her] self-esteem» after ending her relationship with Clinton.
«I think I lost trust in myself in many ways», - she noted. «I fell in love with Washington and the White House and the job and the environment, and then, unfortunately, I fell in love with my boss, who was married and also happened to be the most powerful man in the world. Inappropriate relationships ensued that lasted for two years… I think there were real emotions there, but I thought we had a future. I thought I mattered much more than I actually did».
Lewinsky is currently 51 years old.
