The series «Monsters: The Story of Lyle and Erik Menendez» has been released on Netflix and tells the real story of brothers Lyle and Erik Menendez, who killed their parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez, in August 1989. The anthology first premiered in 2022 with the season «Dahmer — Monsters: The Story of Jeffrey Dahmer». Now, as «Monsters» focuses on the Menendez family case, Hollywood Life has put together a cast guide from the series.
As a veteran actor who has been working in the industry for 30 years, Javier is known for his roles in a variety of films and TV shows. Among his most famous works are «Eat, Pray, Love», - «Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales», - the «Dune» franchise, and «Being the Ricardos».
Since Javier has played the villain several times in his career, his role in «Monsters» seems easy to viewers. Speaking with The Wrap in September 2024, the Spanish actor discussed an important theme in the series: trauma.
«It really speaks to some very important trauma, about how the inability to heal traumatic events [from] childhood can have a dramatic effect on future generations», - Javier told the publication. «I think you just come in and just play, play it safe. I believe in that. I have a family I come home to at the end of the day, and I don’t want to show up as someone who is not a dad or a husband or a partner. This is work. And the more I allow myself to play with imagination, the further I can go, I think».
Chloe is best known for her performances in independent films such as «American Psycho», - «Dogville», - and «Brown Bunny». She has also appeared in TV shows like «American Horror Story» and «Bloodline».
When it comes to the role of Kitty Menendez, Chloe explained that she wanted to approach the role with «great sensitivity» in an interview for Interview magazine in September 2024.
«You know, I think we tell this story with great sensitivity, and we reveal it in a way that I think people haven’t done before», - the actress explained. «I think the conversation around mental health and sexual violence is so different now, you know? So we can really explore it in a way that maybe people were hesitant to do before».
Cooper is a young star who comes from a family of film producers, editors, and others. To get into the character of Erik, originally from Los Angeles, he converted his trailer to look like Erik’s room.
«I turned my trailer into Erik’s room, so I had clothes everywhere, and I had his pictures on the wall, pictures of me too», - Cooper told The Wrap in September 2024.
Originally from Texas and raised in Colorado, Nicholas began his career in the film industry in 2021. He got his first breakthrough in the show «General Hospital», - playing the role of Spencer Cassadine as a series regular until 2024.
Discussing his role as Lyle with The Wrap in September 2024, Nicholas explained his process of studying his character.
«The first thing I did was call people I love, who were alive at the time, and asked them what their opinion and impression was», - he explained.
Dallas plays the role of therapist Dr. Jerome Oziel, who was a key part of the investigation into the Menendez brothers' case. Viewers have seen Dallas in various films, including «Glass Onion: The Riddle of Knives», - and TV shows like «Law & Order: Special Victims Unit»
