In the new season of the series «Sheriff Country», - viewers may be surprised to learn that the characters played by Morena Baccarin and Ben McKenzie are unlikely to become romantic interests. Showrunner Matt Lopez revealed this in an interview with Us Weekly. He noted that there has never been any hint of a romantic relationship between their characters, despite audience expectations.
The premiere of the second season, which took place on October 9, briefly introduced McKenzie as the sheriff of the neighboring county, Drake. Lopez emphasized that this was just a small introduction, and there are plans for a deeper exploration of his character in the future. He added that the relationship between Sheriff Jim Wade and the main character Mickey will develop, and their friendship has a deep backstory, as they attended the academy together.
Lopez also shared that Wade was one of the first to support Mickey during tough times, and that their relationship will be complex yet trusting. One of the upcoming episodes is expected to feature a tense conflict scene between them, which, according to Lopez, will be one of the most memorable moments of the season.
Additionally, there is room in the storyline for other characters, such as Nate Boone, who, despite his feelings for Mickey, understands that she needs to focus on herself and her loved ones right now. The series «Sheriff Country» airs on CBS on Fridays at 8:00 PM Eastern Time.
