A tragedy occurred in Arkansas: a young man accidentally shot his girlfriend and then took his own life. According to the Fairbanks police, the incident happened on September 16 at around 9:12 PM, when a friend of the man called 911 to report what had happened.
Upon arrival at the scene, police found a dead woman and a man with critical injuries. The man was later taken to a local hospital, where he died. The couple was identified as Landon Lawrence, 22, and Chloe Rae McBrayer, 21. The investigation revealed that Lawrence shot McBrayer while «playing with a gun and pointing it at her».
According to the police, Lawrence’s friend, who called 911, attempted to intervene when Lawrence took another firearm and shot himself. The police noted that this person was not involved in the shooting. The department emphasized that the incident is a «tragic and preventable loss of life» and urged everyone to follow safety rules when handling firearms.
After the tragedy, friends and family of McBrayer shared that she was a loving and sociable young woman. Chloe Rae’s mother, Amanda Hooper, noted that her daughter was the «sunshine of the family» and that the couple had discussed the possibility of getting engaged. Hooper added that she does not feel anger towards Lawrence’s family, as she believes the tragedy was beyond their control.
