Man shot his wife and then killed himself in Florida

In Florida, an alleged murder-suicide occurred, in which a man is believed by authorities to have shot his wife before taking his own life. Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly reported that the incident was likely premeditated, as a note mentioning a malicious plan was found in the suspect’s vehicle.
According to the sheriff, on the night of October 1, law enforcement arrived at a home in Palm Coast after several 911 calls reported gunfire. Within five minutes of the first call, they discovered a man named Rakim-Shakur Brooks dead from what is believed to be self-inflicted injuries in the garage of the home. His wife, Dawn Estrella, was found dead in the bedroom with multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.
Two other individuals were also in the house and were unharmed. One witness told detectives that she heard an argument between Brooks and Estrella, followed by several gunshots. According to the sheriff, the couple had a history of conflicts and alcohol abuse. Brooks and Estrella were in the process of separating after nine years of living together.
The sheriff noted that this is the second murder-suicide case related to domestic violence being investigated in recent weeks. Brooks had an extensive criminal history, including 17 arrests for various offenses such as armed assault, robbery with a firearm, domestic violence, and others. The sheriff emphasized that no circumstances justify violence and urged individuals in violent relationships to seek help.
