After a dominant performance at the Olympic Games in Paris, three NBA stars on the men’s basketball team, who had just won gold, were interrupted in their celebrations by a doping control.

During the Boardroom Talks event at Fanatics Fest over the weekend, Anthony Edwards revealed that he and stars Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry underwent doping tests after the final against France.

«After the gold medal — I won’t lie — we [pointing to Durant] underwent — what’s it called? — doping control», - said 23-year-old Edwards. «We couldn’t even celebrate in the locker room because the three of us had to undergo doping tests or something like that».

Curry, 36, delivered a legendary performance, scoring 24 points, including four crucial three-pointers late in the game. He finished with a total of 8 three-pointers, leading Team USA to victory over France with a score of 98−87.

«I understood the moment, the stakes, and the uncomfortable nature of being down for so long in the game and having, you know, 10 minutes to come back», - said the star point guard after the game.

The two-time NBA MVP and four-time NBA champion won his first Olympic gold in Paris.

«It was only right that they gave it to Steph, the way he closed that deal, because it was insane», - noted moderator Jalen Rose.

Durant scored 15 points with four rebounds, while Edwards contributed eight points with one rebound.

Curry’s epic finish to the Olympics followed an incredible performance with 36 points against Serbia, which fueled American dreams of gold. Curry’s performances in the last two games were so impressive that they required doping control.

«He should have had one after the first game against Serbia», - Edwards joked about Durant, referring to the 35-year-old player who scored 23 points in the opening of the USA national team’s Olympics.

Random doping tests for athletes are a common practice in the NBA and other major professional sports leagues, such as the NFL and MLB. They are especially common after outstanding performances, similar to those shown by Curry and Durant in Paris.

The victory marked the fifth consecutive gold medal for the USA men’s basketball team and the eighth in the last nine Olympics. Meanwhile, the USA women’s basketball team won their eighth consecutive gold medal with a 67−66 victory over France in the final event of the Olympic Games in Paris
