The Access Hollywood program has become the latest project from NBCUniversal to be canceled. The company announced the closure of this famous news show, as well as several others, including Access Live, Karamo, and The Steve Wilkos Show. NBCUniversal reported that Access Hollywood, along with other first-run programs, was canceled on March 13, 2026. However, production of the show will continue until the summer of 2026.
Access Hollywood first aired in September 1996.
According to a representative from NBCUniversal, the company is «making changes to our first-run division to better align with the programming preferences of local stations», - explained Frances Berwick, chair of Bravo & Peacock unscripted for NBCUniversal.
«The company will continue to actively distribute our existing library of programs and other international projects while winding down the production of our first-run shows», - Berwick added. «These shows have provided viewers with excellent entertainment for many years, and we are very proud of the teams behind them».
The closure of Access Hollywood comes amid ongoing challenges in television. Several daytime talk shows have been canceled by their networks, and hosts of late-night comedy shows are also concerned after CBS cut Stephen Colbert’s program, with its final episode set to air in May.
Current hosts of the program, Mario Lopez, Kit Hoover, Scott Evans, and Zuri Hall, had not commented on the cancellation of the show at the time of publication. It is unclear what steps they will take next, but they are scheduled to continue production of Access Hollywood until the summer of 2026
