The Netflix series «Boots» quickly became a hit after its debut on the streaming service on October 9, 2025. Based on Greg Coup White’s 2015 memoir «Pink Marine», the series follows beaten gay teenager Cameron Coup (Miles Hayes), who joins the US Marine Corps with his best friend. Since all episodes were released on the same day, fans are wondering if there will be a second season.
Hollywood Life has the latest updates on the possibility of a second season of «Boots» below.
According to its logline, «Boots» follows Cameron, «a beaten gay teenager who joins the Marine Corps with his best friend, despite the risks. On their journey, they undergo deep personal changes amidst danger, as their platoon encounters both literal and figurative mines».
At the time of publication, Netflix has not announced a second season of «Boots». However, Hayes hopes to continue the show. He previously told Variety that he still has «many stories to tell, from Greg’s various experiences in the Marine Corps to 'Don't Ask, Don’t Tell' to its repeal».
«I would do it for 10 seasons if we were allowed», - added the actor, known for «13 Reasons Why».
Hayes leads the cast, playing Cameron Coup, as well as Liam Oha as Ray MacAfee, Max Parker as Sergeant Liam Robert Sullivan, Vera Farmiga as Barbara Coup, Cedric Cooper as Staff Sergeant Marcus McKinnon, Anu Aiyar as Captain Denise Fajardo, Angus O’Brien as Thaddeus Bo Sterling Hicks, and Dominic Goodman as Isaiah Nash.
The Pentagon criticized Netflix for «woke garbage» (without directly naming «Boots») in a statement received by Entertainment Weekly.
«Under President Donald Trump and Secretary [Pete] Hegseth, the US armed forces are returning to the restoration of military etiquette», - said Pentagon spokesperson Kingsley Wilson in a statement. «Our standards in all respects are elite, universal, and gender-blind, because the weight of a backpack or a person does not matter, whether you are a man, a woman, gay, or a rectangle».
Kingsley continued to note that officials «will not compromise our standards to satisfy an ideological agenda, unlike Netflix, whose leadership constantly produces and serves woke garbage to its audience and children».
Currently, in the US, it is not illegal to be openly gay in the Marine Corps. However, in the 1990s, when the events of «Boots» take place, it was illegal. At that time, the «Don't Ask, Don’t Tell» policy was in effect from 1994 to 2011. Under this policy, if a marine’s homosexuality or bisexuality became known, they could face dismissal
