Nathan Fillion will play Guy Gardner in the new Superman movie, set to be released in July 2025

During an interview with Collider in April 2024, Nathan recalled how James offered him the role of Green Lantern at the premiere party of their film «Suicide Squad». Seeing each other in a large crowd, Nathan congratulated the writer and director, who asked the actor, «Hey, Peter [Safran] told you what we have for you next?» I said, «No, he didn’t say». He looked around as if someone might be listening. We were in a crowd of people, but he leaned in and said, «You will be Guy Gardner».
Describing Green Lantern, Nathan pointed out his «flaws», which, according to the actor, he «loves to emphasize» when embodying new characters.
«Guy Gardner is 90 percent insufficient and he doesn’t care. That’s one of his flaws», - Nathan pointed out. «I think there’s real freedom in playing such a character. For someone who loves playing with flaws and insufficient people, Guy Gardner is a real find».
