Dutch strategist YouTube helps creators turn content into companies
Dutch strategist YouTube Leroy Ter Braak is not a creator in the traditional sense. You won’t find him in starring roles in challenge videos or daily vlogs. But behind the scenes, he quietly helps turn content into companies.

Ter Braak is the creator of the IDEAL Framework, a five-step system that helps YouTubers go beyond viral moments and build sustainable, profitable channels. Since launching his full-time consulting business in 2022, he has worked with everyone from beginner creators to big names, and many aspiring YouTubers have grown faster since he got involved.

His framework program focuses on five key principles: spending most of your time on ideas, backing them up with data, performing better in a certain area than what already exists, analyzing where your video falls short, and releasing videos optimized for longevity.

«Most creators focus only on views», - Ter Braak says. «But views don’t mean everything. Fundamental business principles are important — and YouTube is one of the best places to apply them».

His work with the channel WeAreNoCode, led by entrepreneur Christian Peverelli, is a case study in strategic clarity. After they switched their content from broad tech commentary to practical no-code tutorials, the channel started to grow.

Another example: a dog rescue channel called Golden Kobe Family took on an emotional narrative under Ter Braak’s guidance, turning their channel from 30,000 subscribers to over 300,000 subscribers in just a few months.

What sets Ter Braak apart from other strategists?

According to some YouTubers, it’s his combination of creative empathy and his understanding of YouTube. He analyzes analytics not just by numbers, but by storytelling, identifying audience churn as gaps in storytelling rather than just failures in metrics.

«I work as a true partner for my clients», - he says. «Each upload is not an isolated video; it’s part of a larger arc that we’re developing. When creators understand this, everything changes. Sometimes it’s difficult because I live in the Netherlands and most of my clients live in the USA, but the good thing is that my passion is stronger than any inconvenient time zone».

Before launching his consultancy, Ter Braak returned to a more focused mission: helping creators build businesses, not burn out.

Now with over 75,000 subscribers on various platforms, frequent appearances on podcasts, and a book in the works, Ter Braak is turning the IDEAL Framework into a full ecosystem: one-on-one strategy, group mentorship, free online education, and possibly a technological product in the future.

For a strategist who started uploading home videos in English from the Netherlands in 2009, long before the «creator economy» became a trendy term, this is a full circle.

«You don’t need to go viral», - he says. «You need a system. That’s how creators turn into lifelong brands»
