Fresh off the roast of Tom Brady, Nikki Glaser is standing up for animals in a new ad campaign for PETA released on Wednesday, May 22. The 39-year-old comedian stripped down to pose completely naked, urging fans not to wear animal skin and to consider becoming vegan. The new campaign is based on a rule known by all stand-up comedians: «Never steal material from another».
In the photo, Nikki stands in front of a brick wall on a comedy club stage. She holds a microphone in one hand and a microphone stand in the other. Her leg rests on a stool, and she wears tight black high-heeled shoes. Her signature blonde hair covers her chest as she poses naked for the photo. The phrase «Wear your own skin» is printed on her stomach.
Nikki urged fans to get rid of clothing made from animal products, such as leather, in a video accompanying the campaign, mocking people who may worry about not looking cool. «We really need to face the facts when it comes to how many animals are being cruelly treated so you can look cool. By the way, you can still look cool just by using other types of leather», - she said. «I know you’re scared because you think you won’t look as cool without real leather items, but if your identity depends on that, you need therapy. I know you’ll miss the things you loved, but just because you like something doesn’t mean it’s right».
The comedian from «You'll Die Someday» also gave some funny advice for people who aren’t ready to try being vegan. «I know if people knew what it took to make clothing from animals and eat animal products, they wouldn’t do it», - she said. «If you become vegan and you really miss the cruelty to animals that you used to participate in, just kick your dog or something, because it’s literally the same thing».
Nikki has been vegan since 2016. She talked about trying to find unique ways to joke about veganism so it doesn’t come across as cliché in a 2020 interview for The Beet. «One thing about vegans — they don’t have a great sense of humor about it. So I challenge myself in my next stand-up hour to find a way to talk about these issues so people don’t want to ignore me», - she said
