Nicole Kidman talked about her latest film «Baby» — an erotic thriller about a powerful CEO who starts a romance with a young male intern (played by actor Harris Dickinson). During a press conference at the Venice Film Festival on Thursday, August 29, the 57-year-old actress insisted that she «did not feel exploited» while working on sexually explicit scenes for the film.

Pointing out that «Baby» is «obviously about sex», - Nicole noted that it is also «about desire, inner thoughts, secrets, marriage, truth, power, consent», - according to Variety.

«It's a story of a woman, and hopefully a very empowering story», - explained Nicole. «It's told by a woman, through her eyes — Halina [Reijn] wrote it, and she directed it — and that made it so unique for me, because suddenly I found myself in the hands of a woman with this material».

Nicole emphasized that working with a female director helped her feel comfortable during the filming of certain scenes. The star of «Big Little Lies» even called the experience «very liberating» because of how Halina created a safe atmosphere on set.

«It was very close to our primal instincts and very liberating», - added Nicole. «I knew she wouldn’t exploit me. However anyone interprets it, I didn’t feel exploited. I felt very much a part of it. There was a huge caring attitude from all of us; we were all very tender with each other and helped each other. It was very authentic, protected, and at the same time, real».

Although filming the movie «definitely [left Nicole] exposed and vulnerable and scared», - she acknowledged that «creating it with these people was tender and intimate».

Nicole’s recent comments about her film followed her interview with Vanity Fair, published on Monday, August 26. Speaking to the publication, the Australian actress admitted that she had never made films as «exposing» as «Baby».

«It left me exhausted», - she said about her experience on set. «At one point I thought, 'I don’t want to be touched. I don’t want to do this anymore,' but at the same time I was compelled to do it».

The film «Baby» will be released in theaters on December 25
