Months after the accident on an electric bicycle of Nina Dobrev, the 35-year-old actress opened up about her struggle with depression during her recovery journey.
The actress from «The Vampire Diaries» suffered several physical injuries that led to a successful operation in June. Thanking everyone for their care and kind wishes on Instagram, she noted: «I feel the support and positive energy». Despite trying to stay positive, she faced many difficulties during the recovery process.
She described the treatment as very «difficult» and told E! News: «With all the pain and physical agony you go through, and the inability to walk, and seeing everyone walking around Europe on Instagram, enjoying the summer while I sit in bed».
She admitted: «I was definitely depressed. It was very hard for me».
The actress is dating Olympic champion Shaun White, and their life is filled with many adventures. Since the accident, she has been experiencing fear of trying new things. «I feel like I have fear now… I used to be so brave and ready for anything. And now, after the injury — maybe because I’m still in the recovery process, and it’s a nine-month process. I’m only three and a half months out of nine. I still have to learn to walk, so the idea of getting back on a snowboard or motorcycle definitely isn’t happening».
Currently, Nina wears a knee brace to help with the recovery process and tries to stay active. The actress from «The Originals» recently visited the 2024 Olympics in Paris with her boyfriend, former Olympic snowboarder Shaun White. She shared a carousel on Instagram with photos of her time in the «City of Love», - posing with her brace and cane. «I can officially check 'my first Olympics' off the bucket list». In French, she continued: «Goodbye, Paris, see you next time! It was wonderful, as always».
With the support of her partner and her «incredible support system», - she expressed that all of this «really helped pull» her «out of this depression»
