Donald Trump announced that his administration has discovered new data on a possible link between autism and Tylenol, a popular acetaminophen medication used to treat pain and illness. The 79-year-old Republican president told Americans that he, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (nicknamed RFK Jr.), and Dr. Mehmet Oz, the administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, will make an official statement on September 22, 2025 about this new discovery.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a range of mental conditions associated with social skills, repetitive behavioral reactions, speech, and nonverbal communication, according to Autism Speaks. The disorder affects each person differently. For example, some autistic individuals may speak, while others may not; some may have learning difficulties, while others do not.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimate that autism affects 1 in 31 children and 1 in 45 adults in the United States. The disorder is typically diagnosed around age 5 in the U.S.
Diagnoses of autism among Americans have increased over the past two decades.
During his speech at a memorial service for Charlie Kirk, Trump told the crowd that his administration may «find an answer» to treating autism.
«I think you’ll find it amazing», - said the Republican to the audience in Glendale, Arizona. «I think we’ve found the answer to autism».
Trump explained that his administration will explain how autism «occurs so we no longer allow it, and how to at least improve the condition if you have it».
Trump and Kennedy are expected to make their statement on autism around 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time on September 22.
Trump and his administration plan to announce that the use of Tylenol during pregnancy may lead to the development of autism after birth. The parent company of Tylenol, Kenvue, denies that the main ingredient in Tylenol, acetaminophen, leads to autism.
«We believe that independent, sound science clearly shows that taking acetaminophen does not cause autism», - Kenvue said in a statement, according to multiple sources. «We strongly disagree with any other assumptions and are deeply concerned about the health risk it poses to future mothers»
