The latest A24 film, «Queer», starring modern James Bond, Daniel Craig, and «Outer Banks» actor Drew Starkey. The film, set in 1940s Mexico, was shown at the 2024 Venice International Film Festival and is already generating huge interest!
Hollywood Life magazine has gathered all the details about Daniel and Drew’s latest film, «Queer».
«Queer» tells the story of William Lee, who «recalls his life in Mexico among American student emigrants and bartenders surviving on odd jobs and veterans' benefits», - according to the official synopsis published on IMDb.
«He seeks to pursue a young man named Ollerton, based on Adelbert Lewis Marker», - the rest of the synopsis states.
The film was directed by renowned director Luca Guadagnino, known for his works «Call Me by Your Name» and «Suspiria».
Daniel plays the role of William Lee, and Drew plays Eugene Ollerton. At the Venice Film Festival, the film partners talked about the intimate scenes they filmed.
«You know, as well as I do, that there’s nothing intimate about shooting a sex scene on set», - Daniel noted, according to Deadline. «There are people watching you in the room. We just wanted to make it as touching, real, and natural as possible».
The «No Time to Die» star also praised Drew, saying he is a «wonderful, fantastic, beautiful actor to work with, and we just, we kind of joked around», - adding that they «tried to make [shooting scenes] fun».
Drew also shared how he and Daniel prepared for the shoots, noting that they «almost immediately started rehearsing movements».
«And I think not only in intimate scenes, but throughout the entire film, it really freed us and our bodies, and we felt open to new ideas», - Drew explained. «I've never had an experience like that, to really immerse myself in a moment of history and explore all possible paths. I’m not a dancer. Daniel is definitely not a dancer. But I think we learned. I think we got better together».
A24 recently acquired the rights to «Queer», so the release date worldwide has not been announced yet
