The next chapter of the God of War franchise brings a familiar character to the forefront. During the PlayStation State of Play presentation in June 2026, Sony and Santa Monica Studio officially unveiled God of War Laufey—a new game focused on Faye, Kratos' wife and Atreus' mother. Although this character played an important role in the recent Norse saga, this is the first time players will be able to learn her story firsthand.

Below, you will find more information about Laufey, the game’s release date, and its availability on PC.

Laufey, better known as Faye (voiced by Deborah Ann Woll), is the wife of Kratos (voiced by Christopher Judge) and the mother of Atreus (voiced by Sunny Suljic) in the God of War universe. Although she died before the events of the 2018 game, her influence permeates much of the plot, as her last wish sends Kratos and Atreus on a journey through the Nine Realms.

In Norse mythology, Laufey is the mother of Loki. The games adapt this legend, revealing that Atreus is Loki, making Faye a central figure both in the franchise’s mythology and in its connection to Norse myths.

In God of War Laufey, players will finally be able to learn Faye’s story firsthand. In her journey through All-Time, she is accompanied by Frank, a talking cosmic cube voiced by Jack Quaid, and Ryu, a ribbon guardian played by Pearline Lau.

Sony and Santa Monica Studio have not yet announced an official release date for God of War Laufey. The game was showcased during the PlayStation presentation in June 2026 with a cinematic trailer and gameplay, but the developers have not confirmed a launch timeframe. More information is expected to emerge in the coming months as development continues.

At this time, God of War Laufey is confirmed only for PlayStation 5. Sony has not announced a PC version. However, several recent PlayStation exclusives, including God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarök, eventually made their way to PC after launching on consoles. While a PC version is possible in the future, fans will likely have to wait for an official announcement from Sony
