Although Maika and Nicolas hardly share the screen in their latest film, the «It Follows» actress explained how he scared her on set using method acting.
«At that point, they had been shooting with Cage for five days, and it was his last day, probably three weeks into shooting», - Maika said, referring to Variety. «The director decided that I wouldn’t see anything, wouldn’t meet him, wouldn’t see what his face looked like. He created this character, this thing, so I was so nervous».
She continued that production assistants led her to the door on set to the room where Nicolas was.
«The cameras started rolling on me, and the director yells 'action.' I opened the door, and all you see — it’s all very real, and it was incredible», - she added. «He was unrecognizable, and so I didn’t feel like I was in a room with Nic Cage. I was in a room with Longlegs. After we finished that scene, he was done. He’s in this methodical world, but he was able to let it go. We’re sitting across from each other, and he leans in, in his full get-up and everything, and says, 'Oh, I’m such a big fan of yours'»
