The year 2023 became the year of Barbie and Oppenheimer — known as the «Barbengheimer» movement. Now movie fans can experience a new phenomenon — the simultaneous release of the first part of the movie «Sinister» and the second part of «Gladiator II». The internet has already dubbed November 22 as «Wickediator», combining both titles.
Social media users instantly shared their thoughts on the premiere date of the two movies. Many X users (formerly known as Twitter) posted funny video clips of Barbie, comparing «Gladiator II» and «Sinister» with the Oscar-nominated film of 2023. Others also shared photos of potential outfits for the premiere day, which were combinations of pink Glinda-style dresses with gladiator armor.
The highly anticipated first part of «Sinister» starring Ariana Grande as Glinda and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, who becomes the Wicked Witch of the West in «The Wizard of Oz». Filming wrapped up earlier this year, and the premiere was originally planned for November 27, which is also the release date of Disney’s «Moana 2». However, it was announced last week that the first part of «Sinister» will be released on November 22.
Ariana, 31, and Cynthia, 37, as talented artists, expressed their emotions about participating in the film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical. In May, the pop star «Yes, And?» appeared in the film, recalling watching the original production on stage when she was a child.
«I had the incredible privilege of seeing the original Broadway cast of 'Sinister' when I was 10, and I immediately felt a connection», - said Ariana. «It has always been what I listen to when I’m scared, when I need an escape, when I need comfort. I came to my first audition and I remember being so nervous!»
