Snow began falling on most residents of the tri-state area on Sunday, February 22, in the afternoon. As of Monday, February 23, the snowfall had not stopped, although the intensity of the precipitation had decreased.

In the Hudson Valley, New York City areas, and Long Island, snowfall has ranged from 25 to 50 cm so far. According to NBC News, LaGuardia Airport and Central Park have received over 38 cm of snow. In some parts of Nassau County, residents are seeing between 28 and 43 cm of snow.

Residents of Suffolk County on Long Island are facing the worst conditions, with snowfall ranging from 48 to 57 cm, according to NBC News.

In the Hudson Valley, snowfall has ranged from 20 to 32 cm so far.

The travel ban for New York City will expire at noon Eastern Time unless officials announce otherwise.

Mayor Zokhran Mandani confirmed that all public schools in New York City were closed on February 23. At the time of publication, there were no updates on potential school closures for Tuesday. The resumption of classes will depend on road conditions and safety for bus drivers.
