In the 2026 NBA Finals, an exciting battle unfolded between the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs for the Larry O’Brien Trophy. After New York won the first two games of the series, San Antonio responded with a convincing victory in Game 3. The finals showcased standout performances from stars on both teams, including Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns from New York, as well as Victor Wembanyama from San Antonio.

As the series moved to Madison Square Garden for Games 3 and 4, the atmosphere in the Big Apple became truly electric. The Knicks are striving to win their first NBA championship title since 1973, while the Spurs are looking to add another victory to their collection, which already includes five championship titles. All three games have been competitive.

Find out who won Game 4 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday, June 10, here.

The NBA Finals are played in a «best of seven» format. This means that a team needs to win four games to secure the championship. If one team reaches four wins before the other, the series ends immediately.

The current finals are following the standard 2−2-1−1-1 format. The team with home-court advantage hosts Games 1, 2, 5, and 7, while the other team hosts Games 3, 4, and 6. Since neither the Knicks nor the Spurs won the first four games in a row, the series is guaranteed to continue after Game 4.

Historically, teams that go up 2−0 in the NBA Finals have a significant advantage, but the Spurs proved in Game 3 that they are capable of extending the series and keeping their championship hopes alive.

Before Game 4, the Knicks led the NBA Finals 2−1.

New York started the series with a 105−95 victory in Game 1 and then narrowly won 105−104 in Game 2. These wins gave the Knicks a solid advantage as the series moved to New York.

However, San Antonio restored balance in Game 3, winning 115−111 at Madison Square Garden. Wembanyama delivered one of the best performances of the finals, scoring 32 points, grabbing eight rebounds, and making six assists. Stefon Castle added 23 points, and the Spurs handed the Knicks their first loss of the series.

A few days later, the Spurs and Knicks battled for victory in Game 4, and it seemed that San Antonio would easily prevail, leading by almost 30 points. However, New York managed to catch up to their opponent in the fourth quarter.

The winners of Game 4 were the Knicks. New York surprised everyone by snatching victory in the final seconds, finishing the game with a score of 107−106
