Fans of Stefan Nedoroscik, get ready to see your favorite Olympic superhero on «Dancing with the Stars»! The 25-year-old gymnast was announced as the first famous participant of the 33rd season.
Known as the «Clark Kent» of the Olympics, Stefan gained worldwide recognition for his performance on the pommel horse at the 2024 Olympics in Paris. After leading his team to the podium, he now has the opportunity to turn those flips and tricks into dance moves.
The bronze medalist was introduced as the first star on Good Morning America on Thursday, August 22. Showing off his cool dance moves during his presentation, Stefan shared, «I hope to bring a little bit of [gymnastics]. I might want to do a few flairs, maybe a backflip or a handstand. I want to have fun».
The Olympian made a splash at the Paris Games, excelling in his specialized pommel horse exercise. During an episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, he shared more about his early days of training in high school: «I started getting really good on the pommel horse, and one of the club coaches told me, 'I think you could be a national champion one day,' and that really motivated me. I started working hard, and sure enough, that year I won my first youth national title on the pommel horse, which led me to Penn State. That’s when I decided to specialize in it».
After his Olympic success, Stefan shared his journey on Instagram: «My Olympic Games are over, and what a journey it was. We came here with a mission to put men’s gymnastics in the USA back on the map, and with the first team medal in 16 years, I think we achieved that», - he captioned the post.
Stefan became the first announced participant, the rest of the «Dancing with the Stars» lineup will be announced on Wednesday, September 4 on GMA. The premiere of the upcoming season will take place on September 17 at 8:00 pm Eastern Time and will be available to watch on Disney+, ABC, and Hulu
