Olivia Mann shared a new update on her health and additional information about her journey battling breast cancer, hoping that «others who have gone through this or are currently going through it can feel a little comforted».
In a new video posted on her Instagram on Wednesday, September 4, the actress from «X-Men: Apocalypse» detailed her timeline of battling breast cancer after receiving messages from fans asking about it.
«I received a lot of personal messages and questions about my timeline of battling breast cancer, so I thought I should clearly lay it out for you», - said the 44-year-old actress.
The star of the series «Newsroom», - who revealed her diagnosis in March, mentioned that she is sharing information to let her followers, who may be struggling with their own health, know that «I have gone through the same path and I am okay».
In her timeline, Mann revealed that she had over a year of clean mammograms and ultrasounds starting in 2022, before her diagnosis of bilateral breast cancer in April 2023.
So far, Mann has undergone several procedures, including a double mastectomy, breast reconstruction, partial hysterectomy, and oophorectomy.
«I cried a week after I first saw my breasts», - she previously said about the consequences of the procedures in an episode of the SheMD podcast on June 4. «I was alone in the bathroom, looked at them and cried like I probably never cried in my life. I cried. I was broken. I just… I didn’t recognize myself».
The star of the film «Making Babies», - who recently married comedian John Malani, with whom she has a son Malcolm, previously noted that she and the 42-year-old comedian hope to expand their family. In June 2023, she underwent an egg retrieval procedure.
«Right after the double mastectomy, I underwent an egg retrieval procedure», - Mann previously told Good Morning America in May. «And it’s a scary process because I have hormone-fed cancer. So I knew there was a risk. And our doctor said, 'Look, we’ll take one for you, and then we’ll be done.'»
«We really hope that it works out for us to have another child», - added Mann, who managed to get two healthy embryos from the procedure. «We just want one more. I won’t ask for too much in this life, I promise. I just want one more child».
In a comment on Mann’s Instagram post from March, where she revealed her diagnosis, Malani wrote, praising his wife and mother of their two-year-old son: «Thank you for fighting so hard to be here for us. Malc and I adore you. ❤️»
