Olivia Mann shared her plans for the future of her family with John Malani in a new interview for Vogue, published on Sunday, May 12. In the profile of the 43-year-old actress from «X-Men: Apocalypse», - she openly talked about her current battle with breast cancer and the steps she has taken to possibly welcome more children with the 41-year-old comedian. She admitted that she had frozen her eggs three times in her life.
Olivia welcomed her first child with John, Malcolm, 2 years old, in November 2021. She acknowledged that before they welcomed their son, she took steps to freeze her eggs with varying results. «It's interesting because my 33-year-old eggs were great. My 39-year-old eggs? None of them worked. As you age, one month can be good for eggs, and another — not. Obviously, the month we did at 39 wasn’t a very good month», - she told Vogue.
Although she did not directly say that the couple plans to have more children, Olivia continued and said that shortly after being diagnosed with breast cancer (which she revealed in March), she would like to freeze her eggs again. «After my diagnosis, we decided to try another round of egg retrieval and hoped it was a good month», - she explained.
The «Newsroom» star admitted that while she and John hoped to expand their family, undergoing breast cancer treatment could negatively affect fertility. «We talked a lot about it with John and didn’t feel like we had finished growing our family, but we didn’t know if I would have to undergo chemotherapy or radiation therapy», - she said. «At my age, every tenth egg is healthy, and we hoped to make one embryo from this retrieval».
In addition to hoping to eventually have more children, Olivia explained that after treatment, she will have to find a surrogate mother for any future children. She admitted that finding a suitable partner could be difficult because she needs to find someone «whom you trust as much as yourself to live your life as a pregnant woman just like you». However, she said she is grateful for the opportunity. «This journey has made me realize how grateful I am for the opportunities not only to fight cancer, but also to have more children if we want, because I know that many people do not have such opportunities», - she said
