Orlando Bloom shares rare insights into what makes his relationship with Katy Perry successful. During an appearance on the podcast «What's Next? with Trevor Noah» on Thursday, April 18, the actor recalled the early days of his romance with the «Firework» singer.
«I think one of the things that I fell in love with Katy for was that… she hates it when I say this, so I have to be careful how I phrase it, but her music was everywhere, right?» shared 47-year-old Orlando with host Trevor Noah. «When I grew up, it was just on every radio station, but I wasn’t conscious of it…»
The «Pirates of the Caribbean» star continued: «[It's] not what I listened to, but I fell in love with Katheryn, this girl from Santa Barbara. And by the way, parents, priests, living on food stamps. We’re not talking about glamorous Montecito».
According to Orlando, both he and his fiancée understand «where we come from, what we’ve done to get to where we’ve got». The couple also hold each other accountable, striving to grow in an ever-changing industry.
«[Katy] definitely demands that I grow», - he said. «I feel like I do the same for her. And it brings a lot of fireworks, excuse the pun. But it also brings a lot of fun and a lot of growth».
Katy, 39, and Orlando first met at a party following the Golden Globe Awards ceremony in 2016. They got engaged on Valentine’s Day three years later and are raising a three-year-old daughter named Daisy Dove.
The couple remains tight-lipped about their wedding plans, with Katy previously telling Kyle and Jackie O’s show that there are many details she hasn’t disclosed. «I don’t know if we need to share them with the public», - said the «American Idol» judge in 2020. «There's always some silly rumors about changing the date».
Reflecting on their widely discussed relationship, Orlando said he has no regrets. He is also proud of everything they have achieved together.
