Sinclair’s Vice Chairman, Jason Smith, called Kimmel’s comments «inappropriate and deeply insensitive at a critical moment for our country».
«We believe that broadcasters are responsible for fostering and maintaining respectful, constructive dialogue in our communities», - Smith added. «We thank FCC Chairman [Brendan] Carr for his remarks today, and this incident underscores the critical need for the FCC to take immediate regulatory action to address the issue of control over local broadcasters by large national networks».

According to the company’s financial report for 2024, Sinclair owns 40 ABC channels in 30 American markets. It also indicated the expiration dates of these affiliates, which will expire on August 31, 2026.
