The cancellation of artists at Freedom 250 due to political disagreements

The celebration of Freedom 250 is not going as planned. Several artists have declined to participate in the Great American Fair due to the event’s inability to remain nonpartisan. It is scheduled for about a month later, before July 4th, in honor of the 250th anniversary of the United States.
Below you will find a list of major artists, including Martina McBride and Bret Michaels, who have withdrawn from the Freedom 250 lineup at the Great American Fair.

«I wanted to talk to you and clarify the situation. I will not be performing at the Great American Fair on June 25», - McBride wrote in her social media post. «I was given the opportunity to perform at a nonpartisan event, but it turned out to be a deception. I asked a lot of questions and was assured that this was a nonpartisan event meant to celebrate all 50 states».
McBride continued: «In my mind, this was a great way to celebrate the states and bring people together in a way that only music can. I saw it as a larger version of many fairs I’ve performed at over the years, celebrating community and what makes each state special. Sounds fun, right? Even childlike. Yesterday, everything started to change, and what we were told is not actually true».
«I have sung songs about real people with real problems throughout my career», - McBride added. «I have been fortunate to be the voice for those who felt they didn’t have one. It deeply upsets me that any fan who may have been touched by my music might now feel that I am betraying the meaning of those songs. I assure you, that is not the case. I appreciate every fan who has reached out to me. I hope to return to the Washington area soon».
«When this opportunity was initially presented to my team, it was described as a celebration of our country through music and a chance to honor our veterans, active military, first responders, teachers, and hardworking Americans from all walks of life», - Michaels wrote in a statement on Instagram. «Unfortunately, what was presented to us as a celebration of our country has turned into something much more divisive, something I agreed to participate in».
The rock artist also noted that «concerns arose regarding the safety of my fans, my band, my crew, my family, and myself, including threats that are completely unfounded and unacceptable. Because of this, I made the difficult decision to withdraw from this performance».
«I HAVE ALREADY INFORMED MY AGENTS THAT I WILL NOT BE PERFORMING AT THE FREEDOM 250 EVENT», - Young MC wrote in a Facebook post, adding, «Artists were never told about any political connection to the event».
The rapper continued: «And despite the organizers' claims that the event is nonpartisan, SPIN magazine describes it as 'Trump-supported.' I hope to perform in Washington in the near future at an event that will not be so politically charged».
C+C Music Factory vocalist Freedom Williams stated in a video that he told his agent to remove him from the event because he was not informed about its political connection.
«He didn’t mention Trump. I’m getting all these messages: 'We're going to cancel C+C Music Factory, it’s going to be a terrible show,'» Williams noted in his video. «So I told my agent, no, I’m not ready to do this… I’m not associating with Trump. I don’t care about Trump. I know what kind of anarchy he creates. But the day I let you bastards tell me what to do will be the day of my death»
