Fans of Gen V are still reeling from the news of the show’s cancellation. While The Boys approaches its conclusion, the Vought Universe continues to expand, even though Gen V will not receive a continuation. The series centers around a group of young superheroes trying to find their place at the elite Vought International superhero college, Godolkin University. Showrunner Eric Kripke confirmed that a third season will not be filmed, although he previously mentioned that the concept for a new season was in development.

After the cancellation, Kripke told Entertainment Weekly in April 2026: «I didn’t cancel the show. First of all, I don’t have the power to do that. Secondly, I fought to keep the show alive, almost more than anyone else on Earth. So I’m just as upset as everyone else».

The first season of the spinoff focused on Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair), a powerful yet emotionally closed freshman with the ability to control blood. She uncovered a conspiracy involving «The Woods», - a hidden facility where students were subjected to horrific trials. Along with her classmates, Marie quickly realized that being a hero is not just about saving lives but also about playing the game.

In the second season, the stakes were raised, and Marie Moreau and her circle found themselves embroiled in a power struggle that proved to be far deadlier than anything they faced as freshmen. As alliances crumble and loyalty is tested, Marie begins to wield her power like never before. In a finale filled with explosions, blood is shed, secrets are revealed, and the surviving students are pulled from the classrooms into a broader war against Vought International.

Here’s what we know about the plans for a third season of Gen V.

There will be a total of four spinoffs of The Boys, including Gen V. The others are The Boys Presents: Diabolical, The Boys: Mexico, and the upcoming series Vought Rising.

Yes, Gen V was canceled after two seasons on Prime Video.

Executive producers Kripke and Evan Goldberg released a joint statement about the cancellation through Deadline, stating: «While we would have loved to continue the party for another season at Godolkin, we intend to continue the stories of the Gen V characters in the fifth season of The Boys and other VCU projects that are on the horizon. You will see them again».

The chances of a third season of Gen V are slim, given the cancellation, although Kripke previously confirmed that the concept for a third season was in development.

«We still hope to find a way to make it happen. So unfortunately, I can’t share that», - said the creator of Supernatural at the end of 2025, according to Entertainment Weekly. He added that «the idea is that Marie is powerful, but this is not the end of her story. She needs to learn to control it».

When asked about the plan for a third season at that time, Kripke responded: «It's very early days because we’re focused on getting Vought Rising out into the world, but Amazon has expressed interest and wants to hear more potential stories in this world. So we’re internally generating several different ideas. We’ll see which ones get support, but all of them have the potential to include at least part of the Gen V team, and that’s very thoughtful».

All episodes of Gen V are available to watch on Prime Video
