Ovechkin and Shubskaya: their family has been expanded by two sons

The couple is raising two sons: Sergey, born in 2018 and named after Ovechkin’s late brother, and Ilya, born in 2020.
In the same year when Shubskaya and Ovechkin were expecting their second child, the hockey player told The Washington Post about his love for fatherhood. «I was waiting for the moment when my child would be with me in the locker room», - he said. «The culture we have here is something special, and all the guys love kids, and he will have fun too».
He also admired his wife, saying: «Right now, all I think about is family… She is my only one, she takes care of me, my son, and gives me everything I need. I don’t think I could find anyone better. If I had the chance, I would never change her»
