The documentary film about the Menendez brothers was released on Netflix just a few weeks after the hit mini-series «Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story» was released. Now, with the case of Lyle and Erik Menendez back in the spotlight, the brothers have been scheduled for a new court hearing planned for the end of 2024, but not everyone supports them. After viewers watched the new documentary film about the brothers, many are questioning the prosecutor in the legal process, Pamela Bozanich.
At one point in the documentary, Pamela pointed to a new generation and movement advocating for the release of Lyle and Erik from prison. The brothers claimed that they fatally wounded their parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez, in 1989 because they allegedly subjected them to emotional, physical, and sexual abuse.
«The only reason we are doing this special episode is because of the TikTok movement for the release of the 'Menendez'», - Pamela said at one point in the documentary. «Your beliefs are not facts. They are just beliefs. And, by the way, all of you TikTok people, I am armed. We have weapons all over the house, so don’t mess with me».

Pamela was a deputy district attorney in Los Angeles County. She was tasked with prosecuting Lyle and Erik during their murder trial in 1993. In the documentary about the Menendez brothers, Pamela recalled the huge publicity the case received.
«On the day we were doing opening statements, I walked into the courthouse and people were filming me, and I just thought, 'What have I gotten myself into?'» she said, before admitting, «I went into the bathroom and threw up. That was the only time I threw up during a trial or before a trial or anything. It was a nightmare among the media. In a regular murder trial, that doesn’t happen».
Erik was represented by defense attorney Leslie Abramson. She later defended both him and Lyle when the brothers' case dragged on until their conviction in 1996.
Little is known about Leslie’s current life. She is no longer practicing law and has not been in the public eye for many years. Actress Ari Graynor, who played Leslie in «Monsters», - told Variety in October 2024 that Leslie apparently «stepped back» after the trial of the Menendez brothers «not only because the case was so painful for her, but she also had no qualms about the media and its influence on events».
