Hollywood mourns the loss of one of the most original and beloved stars. Diana Keaton passed away on October 11, 2025 at the age of 79 in California, leaving behind a legacy that spans over five decades of unforgettable performances.

After news of her death, tributes poured in from friends, co-stars, and fans on social media. From Bette Midler to Reese Witherspoon, stars shared touching memories of the actress from the film «Annie Hall», - celebrating her humor, kindness, and spirit of innovation.

Steve Martin, who played Keaton’s husband on screen in «Father of the Bride» and its sequel, remembered his longtime friend in a nostalgic Instagram post. He shared an excerpt from a conversation for Interview Magazine in 2021 and captioned it: «I don’t know who posted this first, but it perfectly describes our fun relationship with Diana».

In the screenshot, Martin’s colleague actor Martin Short asks, «Who's sexier? Me or Steve Martin?» to which Keaton humorously replies, «I mean, you’re both idiots».

Midler, who starred alongside Keaton in the comedy «The First Wives Club», - shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram after news of her death. «The brilliant, beautiful, extraordinary Diana Keaton has left us», - she wrote. «I can’t tell you how much this saddens me. She was funny, completely original, and absolutely without guile. What you saw was what she was». Midler added, «Oh, la la».

Goldie Hawn, who also starred with Keaton and Midler in «The First Wives Club», - remembered their decades-long friendship. «Diana, we’re not ready to lose you», - she wrote in a touching Instagram post. «You left behind a trail of fairy dust. There was and will never be anyone like you». Hawn added that the trio once joked they would grow old together, saying, «I thought we had more time».

Witherspoon grew close to Keaton after being directed by her in the 1991 TV movie «Wildflower». During the Shine Away event in Los Angeles, she paid tribute to her mentor in an emotional onstage speech, calling her «so original».

Jane Fonda, who worked with Keaton on both «Book Club» films, honored her friend and partner in her Instagram statement. «It's hard to believe… and accept… that Diana is gone. She was always a spark of life and light, constantly chuckling at her own missteps, endlessly creative… in her acting, her wardrobe, her books, her friends, her homes, her library, her worldview. She was unique. And, although she didn’t know it or acknowledge it, she was a great actress!»

Kimberly Williams-Paisley, who played Keaton’s daughter on screen, shared a loving tribute on Instagram.

«Diana, working with you will always be one of the highlights of my life. You are unique, and it was exhilarating to be in your orbit for a while. Thank you for your kindness, your generosity, your talent, and above all, for your smile». 🙏🏻🕊️💔❤️❤️❤️"
