Pete Rose was known for his gambling scandals and record-breaking hits during his time playing for the Cincinnati Reds. But on the field, he is remembered as a skilled team leader. After Rose’s death in September 2024, Reds owner Bob Castellini praised Rose for his personality and love for the game.
«Our hearts deeply mourn the news of Pete’s passing», - Castellini said in a statement released by the Reds. «He was one of the fiercest competitors the game has ever seen, and every team he played for became better because of him. Pete was a true Red. No one loved the game more than Pete, and no one loved Pete more than Reds Country. We should never forget what he achieved».
