«I knew Rick for over 45 years, and there was not a minute when he didn’t make me smile or laugh», - wrote Ben in his obituary. «Of course, he was a professional comedian, but mostly he had a heart as big as Texas». He added, «He was a wonderful actor, a great comedian, and a fantastic supporting colleague», - recalling how «everything fell into place» when Rick joined the cast of «The Dukes of Hazzard».
John Schneider, who played Bo Duke, also shared his grief, writing on Facebook: «I just learned of the passing of dear Rick Hurst, known as Cletus Hogg. You were a wonderful force for humanity, common sense, and comedy, my friend. Heaven is a safer and more organized place with you in it. We will continue the race and make people laugh until we meet again! Love you».
After his success in «The Dukes of Hazzard», - Rick continued to work regularly on both television and film. He made memorable guest appearances on shows such as «Alice», - «Mama's Family», - «The Golden Girls», - and «Designing Women». His film work included roles in movies like «Steel Magnolias», - «Earth Girls Are Easy», - «The Karate Kid Part III», - and «Tank». Rick also performed in regional theater, including at Bert Reynolds' Dinner Theater, and ended his career on screen with the 2016 short film «Be My Guest».
