Paranormal investigator Dan Rivera, known for his participation in the tour «Devils on the Run 2025», was found dead after a planned stage of the tour in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, where the allegedly possessed doll Annabelle was present. Rivera was 54 years old. Although the cause of his death has not yet been determined, fans of paranormal phenomena and Rivera’s followers are pondering the mystery surrounding his case.

The «Devils on the Run» tour had just completed its part in Gettysburg and took place at the Soldier’s National Shelter of the Ghostly Images of Gettysburg Tours company. Rivera helped the tour attract national attention in recent months thanks to his TikTok videos. According to the Evening Sun, Rivera’s tour completed its final part in Gettysburg on the afternoon of July 13, 2025, just a few hours before his death.

The question remains in Rivera’s death: how did he die? Below, Hollywood Life clarifies the facts from fiction.

Rivera was a paranormal investigator, recently known for his participation in the «Devils on the Run» tour, which featured Annabelle, and he worked with the New England Society for Psychic Research (NESPR). In addition to his profession, Rivera was also a veteran of the US Army.

Previously, Rivera had been featured on Travel Channel’s Most Haunted Places as a paranormal investigator. Additionally, he worked as a producer on various shows, such as 28 Days Haunted on Netflix.

The official cause of Rivera’s death has not yet been established at the time of publication. An autopsy will be conducted to determine how he died.

In the evening hours of July 13, 2025, Rivera was found dead in his hotel room in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The Evening Sun reported that firefighters and medical personnel were called to the hotel around 8:00 PM local time. According to the publication, Pennsylvania State Police and the coroner’s office arrived at the scene to conduct an investigation.

First responders from Adams County performed CPR on Rivera. The Adams County Coroner’s Office stated that Rivera’s death does not appear suspicious, according to the Evening Sun. He was found alone in the hotel room.

Annabelle was last seen in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, because the doll was scheduled to appear as part of the «Devils on the Run» tour in the area from July 11 to 13, 2025. The figurine had previously been housed at the Warrens' Occult Museum in Connecticut.

The allegedly possessed doll was supposed to appear in Rock Island, Illinois, on October 4 and 5, 2025, as part of the tour.

Annabelle is considered a possessed doll, so she has been kept in a glass case for many years. The late paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, who were mentors to Rivera, investigated the doll in the 1970s after a 28-year-old medical student named Donna from Connecticut claimed that the figurine could move on its own and behave maliciously. The Warrens said that a medium told them the doll was possessed by a dead girl named Annabelle. To prevent the supposedly possessed doll from harming anyone, the Warrens kept her in a glass case.

In May 2025, viral theories about Annabelle’s whereabouts spread on social media in connection with her participation in the cross-country tour «Devils on the Run». Contrary to rumors, Annabelle has never gone missing.

The doll’s story inspired the character and separate films of Annabelle from The Conjuring universe. The real Annabelle doll is a raggedy Ann plush figure, not a porcelain doll with evil eyes and rosy cheeks as depicted in the movies
