Patrick Beverley announced that he has signed a contract with the basketball club Hapoel Tel Aviv in Israel on Tuesday, July 16. The 36-year-old basketball player shared his plans to join the Israeli team on his podcast, after considering this move on social media. Patrick has been a regular participant in the NBA for 12 years, but he said that it was time for a change.

When Patrick shared the news that he had chosen to sign a contract with Hapoel Tel Aviv, he said that the deal was too good to pass up. «They gave me everything I asked for… I couldn’t say no», - he said on his podcast Barstool Sports, Pat Bev Pod, according to his X account (formerly Twitter). Patrick also quoted a tweet with emojis of praying hands and a heart.

On his podcast, Patrick briefly talked about his motivations behind this decision and how he weighed his options. «I still have a lot of basketball ahead of me», - he said. «If someone wants to pay you to play basketball at a high level, go play».

Although Patrick has played in the NBA for over a decade, he has played overseas before, following his college career with the Arkansas Razorbacks. He began his professional basketball career playing for teams in Europe before being signed by the Houston Rockets in 2013. His first teams were Ukrainian Dnipro from 2008 to 2009. He then signed with Olympiacos Piraeus in Greece from 2009 to 2010. His last European team was Spartak Saint Petersburg in Russia from 2011 to 2012.

Throughout his NBA career, he has moved from team to team, including the Los Angeles Clippers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers, and most recently, the Milwaukee Bucks.

This guard played in all of the Bucks' playoff games this year, but the team ultimately lost to the Indiana Pacers. Patrick received a four-game suspension for throwing a ball at Pacers fans during game 6. If he returns to the NBA in the future, he will have to serve this suspension before playing for another team, according to ESPN
