Penn Badgley admitted that his former co-star Blake Lively tricked him into believing that Aerosmith vocalist Steven Tyler was his real father in the latest episode of his podcast «Podcrushed».
«I really admire people who do [pranks]. Someone who is maybe known for their pranks — Blake Lively, as far as I remember, takes this very seriously. She played a great prank on me. It was insane», - said the 37-year-old actor.
After being shocked by the rumors, he mentioned how a few days later his publicist informed him that the story was still being discussed. «It escalated even more when he received a call from his manager and publicist, who let him know that Tyler was insisting on his alleged paternity».
Penn also shared how he didn’t believe the rumors were true until he confessed to his mother on April Fool’s Day. «My mom is not an actress at all, not a joker, and she’s upset… I say, 'Mom, why are you upset?!' And then she pauses, which convinced me, and says, 'Why do you think we moved from Maryland?'», Penn said. «I'm telling you, for about five to seven seconds, which is quite long, I was speechless and the world around me was rearranging. I thought, 'Are you kidding me? Am I Steven Tyler’s son?'»
«I always wanted to do music. And I didn’t want to exploit the person, I definitely didn’t want to do that, but I just thought… It takes a long time to think that your life is turned upside down», - he joked.
Penn also said that he is gullible and never sees pranks coming his way. «Anyone in my life who wants to play a prank on me, go ahead, because I will never think about it», - he added. «I'm probably trusting, probably it says something good about me, I just never think that someone is trying to prank me. So she had that going for her»
