Perez Hilton’s family reported that he has been able to reconnect with his children during his treatment following a suicide attempt. In a post on his website on September 29, it was stated that in recent weeks, Hilton has been able to communicate with his son Mario and daughters Mia and Mayte through video calls, and later in short, controlled visits at the treatment facility.
Hilton, who is 48 years old, is the sole parent of three children. His family noted that the opportunity to see his children in person is immensely significant for him, and this time together has been very important and healing for everyone.
It is worth recalling that Hilton was hospitalized on August 4 after a concerning livestream in which he engaged in self-harm. He underwent surgery due to significant blood loss and remained in the hospital for several weeks before transitioning to an inpatient mental health facility.
During his treatment, it became known that his mother, Teresita Lavandeira, received temporary custody of the children. Hilton’s friend, Tom D’Angora, launched a GoFundMe page to raise funds for the children’s care, and so far, over $ 14,000 has been raised out of the planned $ 25,000.
Hilton’s family expressed gratitude for the progress he has made and for the opportunity to spend time with his children. They also noted that Hilton continues to work with a team of specialists to understand the causes of his mental health crisis and learn how to cope with challenges. At this time, the family does not have a clear timeline for Hilton’s return home, and they are trusting the recommendations of doctors and therapists.
