Pink does not plan to join American Idol. Despite Katy Perry’s imminent departure from the show, the 44-year-old singer of the hit «Raise Your Glass» explained in a new interview the reason why she does not want to replace the 39-year-old singer of the hit «Firework». «I like my main job», - insisted Pink, referring to her music career.
«I don’t like to hurt people’s feelings», - she explained during an interview with Entertainment Tonight on Monday, May 13. Although she acknowledged that the show includes constructive criticism, Pink noted that she does not want to give «honest» feedback to emerging musicians. «I'm not ready for that», - she added with a smile.
Pink’s recent statement about reality singing shows coincides with Katy’s last episodes on the show. Earlier this year, she announced that she was leaving after seven seasons.
«I think this is probably going to be my last show, my last season for Idol», - Katy said in February, appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! «I love Idol so much. It’s connected to me, like the heart of America. But I feel like I need to step out and feel that pulse, that pulse to my own rhythm».
Katy’s time on the famous show was filled with her characteristic humor. From wardrobe malfunctions to jokes with contestants, the decision of the «Teenage Dream» artist to leave broke the hearts of fans. However, it also made them wonder who would replace her.
American Idol host Ryan Seacrest recently spoke about possible candidates to fill the empty judge’s chair. Speaking with ET in April, he noted that Meghan Trainor would be a strong candidate to replace Katy.
«Meghan is also super talented, and she has a great sense of humor», - emphasized Ryan. «She's fun and spontaneous».
Judges Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie also threw their favorite celebrity names into the mix. Lionel noted that he wants either Kelly Clarkson or Taylor Swift.
«I have a list, but Kelly, if you have nothing else going on, I’d like to put this forward», - he said. «I'm a big fan. And, by the way, Taylor, if you’re free, we would love to see you. Call me!»
