Ozzy Osbourne has entered music history as one of the great rock musicians. He passed away just a few weeks after Black Sabbath’s farewell concert in July 2025. While fans mourn Ozzy’s death, the late 76-year-old English singer and songwriter will likely have a funeral, as he had previously expressed a desire to have one at the end of his life.

Below are updates on Ozzy’s funeral plans.

The Osbourne family has not yet disclosed details of Ozzy’s funeral or even if they will have one. While some deceased musicians, such as Michael Jackson, had public memorial ceremonies, ultimately it all depends on the Osbournes.

However, Ozzy had previously stated that he wanted to have a funeral at the end of his life.

A source told The Sun in July 2025 that there might be a «celebration of his life in Birmingham, the city that meant so much to him. … There are hundreds of famous names who will want to pay their respects and celebrate his life and legacy, as well as thousands of fans who will line the streets to say goodbye».

During a question and answer session with The Times in 2011, the deceased, author of the hit «Crazy Train», - said he wanted his funeral to be a positive event, not a «sad» one.

«It's worth remembering that many people only see suffering all their lives», - Ozzy noted, adding: «So, by any measure, most of us in this country — especially rock stars like me — are very lucky. That’s why I don’t want my funeral to be sad. I want it to be a time to say 'thank you'».

In fact, the musician was open to «a few pranks» at his memorial service, «maybe a knocking sound inside the coffin; or a video where I ask my doctor for a second opinion on his diagnosis of 'death'», - Ozzy added at the time.

Overall, the «War Pigs» rocker emphasized that he wanted his funeral to be a «celebration, not a gloomy event».

«I honestly don’t care what they play at my funeral; they can put on a slow mix of Justin Bieber, Susan Boyle, and We Are the Diddymen if it makes them happy», - he said, adding: «But I want it to be a celebration, not a gloomy event. … There will be no memories of bad times. So, to answer your question, yes, a little planning — the right decision for the family you leave behind».

The exact cause of Ozzy’s death was not immediately disclosed after his passing. However, he had been battling Parkinson’s disease for the last few years, among other health issues
