The finals of the athletics tournament at the 2024 Olympics in Paris were victorious for the members of the US team. Despite a COVID-19 diagnosis before the men’s 200-meter final, Noah Lyles was determined to race. Although he hoped for a gold medal, he left with a bronze, finishing on Thursday, August 8, in 19.70 seconds.

«I woke up early, around 5:00 am on Tuesday, and felt very sick», - explained Noah, 27, during an interview after the race. «Unfortunately, it turned out I had a positive COVID test. My first thought was not to panic. I’ve run in worse conditions. I’ve never been prouder of myself than for coming out here and getting a bronze medal».

Fellow American Kenny Bednarek finished in second place. The 25-year-old athlete finished with an impressive time of 19.62 seconds.

As for the women’s 400-meter hurdles final, American Sydney McLaughlin-Levron won the gold medal. Furthermore, the 25-year-old athlete even set a world record, finishing the race in 50.37 seconds. Fellow American Jasmine Moore won a bronze medal in this competition, jumping 6.96 meters. After her victory, Tara ran to embrace her husband, Paralympian Hunter Woodhall.
