Cancellation of the series FBI International: why did CBS make this decision
It is always sad when a series comes to an end. Now it has almost become the norm. In light of recent changes in media and television, CBS has canceled several of its FBI spin-offs: FBI: Most Wanted and FBI International. The latter was not renewed after four seasons, despite a decent number of viewers, Deadline reports. So why was FBI International canceled?
Hollywood Life breaks down the cancellation of FBI International below.
FBI International, a spin-off of Dick Wolf’s FBI franchise, follows the international «Fly Team» of the FBI, who are elite special agents in Budapest, managing any threats against the United States. The crime series released its fourth season at the end of 2024.
Luke Kleintank played Scott Forrester, and Heida Reed portrayed Jamie Kellett for the first three seasons until their characters departed. The rest of the main cast includes Carter Redwood as Special Agent Andre Rains, Vinessa Vidotto as Special Agent Cameron Vo, Christiane Paul as Katrin Jaeger, Eva-Jane Willis as Megan «Smitty» Garretson, Christina Wolfe as Amanda Tate, and Jesse Lee Soffer as Wesley «Wes» Mitchell.
CBS has not yet discussed the cancellation of FBI International at the time of publication. However, Deadline reported that the reason for the series being cut could be that CBS needed to make room for its other shows that were renewed, including NCIS, NCIS: Origins, NCIS: Sydney, Tracker, Fire Country, Elsbeth, and Matlock.
It is also unclear whether Universal TV and Wolf Entertainment will be selling the series and another canceled FBI spin-off, Most Wanted. According to Deadline, both FBI International and Most Wanted are currently in production, with a few episodes left to film.
In May 2024, the publication reported that actors from the FBI franchise were part of the cost-cutting measures, which reduced the number of episodes they could appear in. Series regulars in FBI and FBI: Most Wanted suffered from reduced minimum guarantees, but the actors in FBI International did not
