David Beckham and Mark Wahlberg were once business partners, but their partnership ended on harsh terms. According to a new report, the former soccer star has filed a lawsuit against the action movie star over an alleged failed deal with a fitness brand. However, before their business collaboration, Wahlberg made a comment about Beckham several years ago, which later led to icy relations.

Find out more about Beckham’s case against Wahlberg and their partnership below.

On April 19, 2024, The Sun reported that Beckham’s company, DB Ventures Ltd., filed a lawsuit against Wahlberg, claiming that the actor of «The Lovely Bones» had «deceived» Beckham. The Londoner is also suing Wahlberg’s company, Mark Wahlberg Investment Group, as well as the founders of F45, Adam Gilchrist and Rob Deutsch.

In the lawsuit, Beckham claimed to have lost $ 8.5 million when the promised shares were withheld after a drop in stock prices. In response, Wahlberg asked the judge to dismiss the lawsuit, stating that the allegations of «fraud» were unfounded.

Neither Beckham nor Wahlberg have publicly commented on the legal issue.

After the former footballer became a partner with the star of «The Fighter» in 2021, agreeing to be a global ambassador for F45, they had a strong friendship. According to a press release from that year, Beckham called Wahlberg his «friend».

«I have been a fan of the F45 franchise and workout model since being introduced to it by my friend, Mark Wahlberg», - Beckham said.

Earlier, Wahlberg commented on Beckham and his family in 2009, after the family moved to Wahlberg’s Los Angeles neighborhood.

«Damn, the Beckhams. It used to be so quiet on my street», - Wahlberg told Daily Mail that year. «Then David moved in with his family. Suddenly we had paparazzi hanging out here day and night. Now they’ll follow any car that drives down the street. I strongly object to that behavior. When I take my kids to the park, I don’t want strangers shoving their lenses in our faces».

Wahlberg added, «Where I come from, it’s considered unwise to pursue people in this way unless you’re looking for serious trouble. When that happens, I start thinking, 'Either I’m going to get this guy, or he’s going to get me.'»

However, Wahlberg clarified in a separate interview that he did not mean any disrespect towards Beckham.

«He asked me to write him about something — I don’t know, maybe a movie», - Wahlberg explained to The Sun in a separate interview. «I said something, half-jokingly, because his house is down the hill from ours, and a lot of people hang out in that area. So I said something like, 'I don’t like that he’s here because of that.' I met him and some of his sons, and he seems like a nice guy… I wanted to make sure he didn’t take it personally»
