Now, after failing the bar exam in the California State Bar and successfully advocating for prison reform, those unfamiliar with Kim’s goals are curious as to why she wants to be a lawyer when she is one of the most famous reality TV personalities.

No, Kim did not take the traditional path of legal education. She completed a law program in May 2025, and previously interned at a law firm in San Francisco in 2018.
According to multiple sources, Kim briefly attended Pierce College in Los Angeles, although she does not have a bachelor’s degree.
Kim aspires to a legal career because of her late father, Robert Kardashian Sr., who inspired the Kardashian star to follow in his footsteps. Kim is also passionate about prison reform and helping inmates.
During an interview with Vanity Fair in April 2020, Kim said that she believes her father «would be proud» to see his daughter continue her legal studies.
«We discussed the possibility of going to law school», - Kim said. «He and I, when I was in college and thinking about what major to choose, I said, 'Okay. I can choose political science and really pursue this,' and then he said, 'Listen. You’ve seen how hard it is. I have no doubt that you can do it, but being a lawyer is a very stressful life. Do you really want to be a lawyer?'»
Kim continued: «And then I chose a major in communications. We discussed it a lot because he always saw me rummaging through his stuff and going through all his evidence books. In the summer, when all my friends were having fun, he would say, 'Go, have fun. You can always do that later.'»
Kim took the California State Bar exam once. She completed it in July 2025 and shared her results in November in an Instagram Stories post.
«Well… I’m not a lawyer yet, I’m just playing one on TV very well», - Kim announced, referring to her Hulu series «All's Fair». «Six years on this path of law, and I’m still on the way to passing the exam. No shortcuts, no giving up — just more studying and even more determination».

The «baby bar» exam is a one-day test consisting of multiple-choice questions and four essays. The state bar exam is a two-day assessment held every February and July. It consists of 200 multiple-choice questions, five one-hour essays, and one 90-minute performance test question
