Why did drummer Bob Bryar leave My Chemical Romance: details Why did drummer Bob Bryar leave My Chemical Romance: details
The band My Chemical Romance previously consisted of six members: vocalist Gerard Way, lead guitarist Ray Toro, rhythm guitarist Frank Iero, lead bassist Mikey Way, keyboardist James Dewees, and drummer Bob Bryar. However, in 2010 Bryar and MCR went their separate ways, and the band called it a «painful decision». So why did their longtime drummer leave MCR?

In light of the news of Bryar’s death, fans are remembering his contribution to the pop-punk group, and many are wondering what led to his departure from music.

Bryar joined MCR in 2004, replacing their former drummer Matt Pelissier. Bryar contributed to several albums, including «Life on the Murder Scene» and «The Black Parade».

During his time with MCR, Bryar faced several obstacles. In 2007, he had wrist problems during their Black Parade world tour, which led to the band canceling a concert in Maine. Bryar explained the situation through MySpace.

«We are very sorry that we had to cancel our last show in Maine. I have had a lot of wrist problems over the past few years», - Bryar revealed, citing NME. «They have been getting worse, but I kept playing. I went to many doctors to get relief so I wouldn’t have to stop. Maybe this time I pushed it too far. During our performance in Maxwell, I developed a lump in my wrist, I not only started to experience pain, but also lost control and feeling in my fingers».

Despite this obstacle, Bryar remained committed to touring with MCR and returned in early 2008. He also worked with his then-colleagues on their fourth album in 2009.

In 2010, MCR announced that Bryar had left the band, but did not provide a reason for his departure. In their statement, Iero called it a «painful decision» to «part ways» with Bryar.

«Four weeks ago My Chemical Romance and Bob Bryar parted ways», - MCR announced that year. «It was a painful decision for all of us and was not taken lightly. We wish him luck in his future endeavors and hope you will do the same».

Five years later, Bryar stated on Twitter (now known as X) that he was «fired» from MCR, according to many sources.

Bryar’s exact salary and net income were not publicly disclosed. But along with his former colleagues, Bryar likely earned good money thanks to their Black Parade world tour in 2007 and 2008. According to Billboard, MCR earned approximately $ 183,600 from 5,415 tickets sold for each date of their tour.

In 2014, Bryar officially left music, announcing on social media that he had become a real estate agent.

Bryar was found dead in his home in Tennessee in November 2024, shortly after Thanksgiving. According to TMZ, authorities found that Bryar’s body was «severely decomposed», - and animal control services came to take away two dogs.

The last time the musician was seen alive was on November 4, 2024, the publication reports. The cause of his death is under investigation
