Sigfredo Alvarez Seha was named the prime suspect in the murder of actor Jonathan Joss, known for his voice role as John Redcorn in «King of the Hill» and as Chief Ken Hotate in «Parks and Recreation». The 59-year-old murder sparked a national debate on whether Joss’s murder was related to homophobia, as claimed by his husband, Tristan Kern De Gonzalez. The San Antonio police stated that there is currently no evidence indicating a hate crime.
Below, you will learn more about Alvarez Seha and his alleged connection to Joss’s murder.
Joss was known for his voice as John Redcorn in «King of the Hill», including its upcoming revival, and he played Chief Ken Hotate in «Parks and Recreation».
Jonathan’s IMDb profile lists many other roles he played, including small roles in «Walker, Texas Ranger», «The Wild Thornberrys», «Charm», «CSI», «Visible», «Friday Night Lights», «Parks and Recreation», and «Tulsa King».
Alvarez Seha was identified as a suspect in Joss’s murder. According to The Independent, he was arrested a block away from the crime scene and charged with first-degree murder. Alvarez Seha’s bail was set at $ 200,000, and his first court appearance is scheduled for August 2025, according to the publication.
Joss’s husband claimed that the late actor was a victim of a homophobic murder. In a Facebook post, Kern De Gonzalez wrote: «[Jonathan] was killed by someone who couldn’t stand the sight of two men loving each other. … My husband Jonathan Joss and I were shot while checking the mail at our former home. This home had been burned down after over two years of threats from people in the area who repeatedly told us they would burn it down. We had reported these threats to law enforcement multiple times, but nothing was done. During this time, we were regularly harassed by people who clearly did not accept our relationship. Most of the harassment was openly homophobic».
Joss’s spouse continued in his public statement: «When we returned to check the mail, we found the skull of one of our dogs and his leash displayed. This caused both of us serious emotional distress. We began screaming and crying in response to the pain of what we saw. As we did this, a man approached us. He began shouting violent homophobic insults. He then pulled a gun from his knee and fired. Jonathan and I had no weapons. We were not threatening anyone. We were grieving. We were standing together. When the man fired, Jonathan pushed me aside. He saved my life».
The San Antonio police responded to the hate crime accusation in a statement that read: «Despite online claims that this was a hate crime, the investigation has not found evidence that Mr. Joss’s murder was related to his sexual orientation»
